New and Redone!

I have been working on my query here and at QueryTracker.net and appreciate all of the help and advice! Here is what it has all come down to:

Dear (agent),

When Rochelle looks up from her desk she finds him sitting there, her stalker, a man in all black which the same violet eyes as her. She doesn't want him to come nearer, so she runs away as fast as she can, never looking back.

Scared for her life, she is surprised to see the two violet eyed strangers she had met just a week before, here in Tennessee, and on a mission to save her. They bring her to Michael, their leader, and she suddenly realizes that he is the man who has been plaguing all of her dreams. The connection she shares with him is so deep and consuming, it is all Rochelle can do to keep it out of the forefront of her mind.

Twenty year old Rochelle soon learns that Michael and his group of friends are time travelers, otherwise known as tempus viators. They can only travel into the future, never the past, since the past is set but the future is always open for change. Michael swears to help her find this stalker, and when they do no one is more surprised than Rochelle, to find that it was her long lost brother Adam. Adam came to help save her from their father, who is under the control of Smith, an evil tempus viator. No one knows Smith's plan, but the do know if they don't stop him, everything and everyone they hold dear will be in immanent danger.

TEMPUS VIATOR is a young adult paranormal romance complete at 72,000 words. I would be happy to send a partial or a full manuscript upon your request.

Thank you for your time and consideration,

Joy

Any more comments or feedback would be awesome and more than welcome! I want this thing to be the best it can be!

Want to play Agent?

Here's my query letter. I'm not sure if it is a good one or still needs work. It is not very long but I don' t know if that is the problem. I haven't been sending out queries for very long so I haven't gotten much feedback yet. I did have one agent who just wanted a query ask for some of my work, but she said it wasn't the right "voice" for her. So, here it is! Please help a sister out! Tell others to help me out too!

Dear (Agent's name,

Rochelle had never dreamed of the past before, nor traveled into the future. Things like that have never entered Rochelle's quiet, lonely life. She had grown up in the foster care system because her mother died giving birth to her, and her father and brother had left before she was even born. Now Rochelle is living on her own, and realizes how mundane her life really has become.
Her life gets turned upside down though, when Michael, a handsome British aristocrat, and his four friends come into the picture. She is so intrigued by them, mainly because of the violet eyes they share with her.She also seems to share a strong connection with Michael. As she gets closer to them, she learns about herself, friendship, and love; things she has never really known before. But when Rochelle learns of her past, will she be able to accept who she really is?

Tempus Viator is first in my series and is a 72,000 word novel of young adult fantasy fiction. This is my first novel. I am ready to submit my full or partial manuscript upon your request. Thank you for your time and consideration. .

Joy D. Wilson

*Did my best to fix some things. This is the revised version. Still not sure how great it is.

quick question to: Do you think this book is really fantasy? I am having a hard time finding a genre for it. It has time travel, but not in a machine, so it's not sci-fi is it? Is it paranormal? So confused!

Learned something new

Today I have come to a realization. Agents are very busy people. I have hared from a few agents, but most of them I have yet to hear from. This at first was a little disheartening because I wanted to know how they would respond to my query. But after reading several blogs and posts from agents on the topic of queries I realized how backed-up they are. Most seem to have several hundred queries in their in boxes.
So, being the genius I am, I put two and two together. Maybe the reason I haven't heard back from some agents (at least the ones who say they will respond back in two weeks or whatnot) is because they are swimming in queries.

That's all I got for today.

Starting something new

Today has been busy but amongst it all I am starting on the squeal to my current novel I have done already. This is so exciting! I hope I can keep all of the tie-ins in my head!

So far today, nothing new from any agents. So not bad, but not great either. :)

Update on query letters

Here's the update!

In total I have submitted 14 queries to agents and agencies. 4 have come back rejected. 1 has requested some of my work.

I must admit at first I was a little shocked to see my letters come back rejected, but I knew it happens to everyone so it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. God has really been working on me about not worrying about all of this and just leaving it in His hands. I feel that I am able to do that and I know that my story is good, so Lord willing at some point an agent will want to pick it up.

That's it for today!

Update on query letters

I got my first two rejection letters yesterday. I am not as upset about it as I thought I would be though. I think its just the idea that there is someone out there who is a professional reading it that still boggs my mind so I probably won't feel the hit before I get over that!

I sent out four more in response to getting rejected by two! The game is still on my brothers!

Busy Week

I have this week off work, which is nice. I plan on using my time off to finish my final edit of my book, so that by the end of the week or next Monday I will be able to send out my query letters. I am excited and nervous all at the same time but I know that no matter what happens, this whole experience is wonderful and I wouldn't trade it for anything!
